Articles on: Requests

Why can’t I submit a request on an employee’s behalf?

You have permission to submit requests on an employee's behalf, but the system will not let you save one? It is usually one of three things.

The most common causes

  1. The employee has no request type assigned. If no available type (for example annual leave) has been assigned to the employee's account, you cannot submit a request on their behalf. Assign the requests first — see [Assigning requests to an employee](Assigning requests to an employee).
  2. There are not enough days left in the limit. If the request exceeds the available limit, the system blocks saving so that the pool is not overrun.
  3. A request for the same period already exists. If there is already an approved request for the same days, the system will not allow a second one that overlaps it.

Remember: Before you submit a request on somebody's behalf, check the employee's request list — the entry may already be there.
