Which devices and readers does KIOSK support?

To run KIOSK you need a device that will stay in the location permanently. Extra hardware is only required if you want to use fingerprints or contactless cards.

The device

The KIOSK app runs on tablets and phones with Android and iOS. In practice a tablet in a wall mount by the entrance works best — on a large screen the numeric keypad stays visible, so clocking in with a PIN is quicker.

KIOSK adapts to the device orientation. In portrait the same methods stack into a column.

Important: One device serves one location. If you have several entrances or several locations, each needs its own terminal and its own activation.

Readers

  • Fingerprint reader — required for the "Fingerprint" method
  • Contactless card reader — required for the "Card" method

The state of both readers is visible in the admin panel, under "Accessories".

It works without readers too

If you connect no readers at all, KIOSK keeps the two methods that need no hardware: QR code and PIN. That is a fully working setup — many customers start exactly there and add readers later.

Remember: Reader configuration is covered in The KIOSK admin panel, and the methods themselves in Identification methods in KIOSK.
