What is Proplanum KIOSK

Not every employee carries a work phone, and not every company wants time tracked from a personal device. Proplanum KIOSK solves that with one tablet by the door: the employee confirms who they are and clocks in, takes a break or clocks out, and the entry lands in the same records as time tracked from the app.

What KIOSK is for

KIOSK is a separate app (Android and iOS) installed on a company device and tied to one location. It sits idle showing a clock and the identification methods, then switches to the employee's shift and available actions once they are recognised.

What it gives you in practice:

  • time tracking without the employee's phone,
  • one clocking point for the whole shift — the queue moves, because identification takes a second,
  • entries tied firmly to the location, without relying on GPS,
  • automatic sign-out after a few seconds, so the next person cannot clock in on someone else's account.

Important: Entries from KIOSK land in the same records as entries from the mobile app — a manager approves them all in one place.

Identification methods

Employees confirm who they are in four ways. Which ones are available depends on the readers connected to the device.

  • Fingerprint — needs a fingerprint reader
  • Contactless card — needs a card reader
  • QR code — from the mobile app or a printout, no extra hardware
  • PIN — a five-digit code from the employee profile, no extra hardware

If no reader is connected, KIOSK shows only the QR code and PIN.

Remember: Each method, and what to do when a read fails, is covered in Identification methods in KIOSK.

Layout on a tablet

KIOSK adapts to screen size. On a tablet in landscape the numeric keypad stays visible next to the method tiles, so clocking in with a PIN takes one tap less.

In portrait the same layout folds into a column.

Before you launch KIOSK

  1. Turn on time tracking for the location and set the channel to KIOSK — see RCP settings.
  2. Install the KIOSK app on a device that will stay in the location permanently.
  3. Activate the device — a manager approves the request from the mobile app. See Setting up and activating KIOSK.

With KIOSK, time tracking no longer depends on whether an employee has a charged phone on them — and you know the clock-in happened on site.
