Enrolling a fingerprint

A fingerprint is the fastest way to clock in — nothing to remember and nothing to carry. Because it involves biometric data, enrolment starts with explicit consent from the employee rather than going straight to the reader.

Employee consent

  1. Open the admin panel, authorise, and pick the employee.
  2. Tap "Enroll fingerprint".
  3. KIOSK shows a consent screen — the employee confirms it in person, before the first read.

Caution: Without confirmed consent, enrolment will not start. This is a requirement, not a setting you can switch off.

Three reads

After consent the reader takes the fingerprint three times. Each read has to match the previous ones, which is what makes later recognition work on the first try.

If the third read does not match the first two, enrolment starts over. Nothing is saved half-finished.

Tip: If enrolment keeps failing, ask the person to dry their finger and place it flat, using the centre of the fingertip — the reader needs the whole pad, not just the tip.

Checking and replacing

The state of the fingerprint appears on the employee's credentials screen as "Enrolled" or "Not enrolled".

The same screen lets you enrol the fingerprint again when the old one stops being recognised.

Important: A fingerprint can always be replaced with a PIN or a QR code — if the reader refuses to cooperate, the employee is never left unable to clock in.
