Swapping and giving away a shift

Something came up on the day of your shift? No need to ring around the team. The app lets you report two things: a swap — when you have a specific person you want to trade with, or a give-away — when you simply cannot come and are looking for anyone to cover. Both requests go to your supervisor, who approves or rejects them.

Where you start

You launch both actions with the plus button on the Schedule tab.

After choosing "Shift swap" or "Shift give-away" you point to which of your upcoming shifts the request concerns.

Shift swap

For a swap the app shows the people a swap is possible with — they have a shift in the same position and meet the working time rules.

  1. Pick a person from the list.
  2. Add a note if you want to explain the reason.
  3. Tap "Send request".

Important: A swap needs both sides to agree and the supervisor's decision. Until it is approved, both shifts stay in the schedule unchanged.

Giving away a shift

A give-away works in a similar way, but you do not point to a specific person — the shift goes into the pool of open shifts that anyone on the team can claim.

Caution: Giving a shift away does not release you from it automatically. Until your supervisor approves the cover, the shift is still yours.

Tracking the request

You can check the status of a request on the Requests tab, in the "Shifts" segment.

Details of each entry open on tap — you will see who is handling it and what stage it is at.

Remember: You will learn about the decision from a push notification. Notification settings are described in Notifications in the mobile app.
