Why can’t I load a template?

The most common cause is a mismatched view range. A template is saved for exactly the period you have set at the moment of saving, and you can load it only in a view with the same range. Below are three things worth checking.

The view range has to match

A template "remembers" the range you saved it in. If you cannot find it or cannot load it, check the window range selected in the toolbar (left-hand side) and match it to the template:

  • a template saved in the "Week" view can only be loaded in the "Week" view,
  • one saved for "2 weeks" — only in the "2 weeks" view,
  • one saved for "4 weeks" — only in the "4 weeks" view.

Templates are not saved for a monthly range, so in the "Month" view the list will be empty — switch to the right range.

A template has to be saved first

The template list may simply be empty because none has been created yet. You save a template from the "Copy" menu → "Save template", based on shifts planned earlier.

Remember: For there to be something to load, first save a template from a schedule you have laid out. We described the whole process in Copying and schedule templates.

Future, not-yet-started periods only

You can load a template only onto a period that has not begun yet.

Caution: If the week (or another period) is already under way, you cannot load a template onto it — you can only do so for the next period that has not started.

How to lay out staffing automatically from a template is described in Automatic schedule from templates.
