# What is the difference between a task and information?

In the "New task" window you first choose the kind: "Task" or "Information". In short: a "Task" is an obligation with a deadline and a completion status (it can have subtasks), while "Information" is a message — with no status and no subtasks.

# Task

- has a completion status: Not started, In progress, Completed, Rejected
- can have subtasks
- is used to plan obligations with completion control

|| Remember: the main status will only change to "Completed" once all subtasks are Completed.

# Information

- has neither a status nor subtasks
- is used to pass on messages, for example an announcement or a reminder about a meeting

# What they have in common

- both kinds can be one-off or recurring
- you assign both to chosen people
- you create both in the same "New task" window, choosing the kind at the start

| Tip: if you only want to communicate something and do not need to track completion — choose "Information". When completion control or a breakdown into steps matters — choose "Task".
