# What happens when an employee reports sickness?

When an employee is ill, in Proplanum you report it as an **absence request** — usually a sick note. The information reaches the supervisor straight away, and the absence is visible in the schedule.

# How the report works

1. The employee — or a supervisor on their behalf — submits an absence request of the **sick leave** type.
2. The supervisor gets a **notification** about the new absence.
3. An **attachment** (for example a scan of the sick note) and a **note** can be added to the request, if the request type allows it.
4. The absence is visible in the schedule — you can plan cover for the missing shift straight away.
