# Shift templates and groups in a location

On the **"Templates and groups"** page of the location editor you configure two things: **shift templates** (ready-made hour patterns for fast planning) and **crew groups** (teams of employees you plan shared shifts for). You will find both sections in one place.

To open it, click **Locations** in the menu on the left (the **ORGANISATION** group), click the **pencil** icon ("Edit location") in the chosen location's row (or the ⋮ menu), then choose **"Templates and groups"** from the **LOCATION** group in the settings panel.

|| Remember: The **"Groups"** section is visible only with a licence that includes the online schedule. If you cannot see it, check your package.

# Shift templates

Shift templates are ready-made patterns that save you entering the same hours every time. If shifts at a location have fixed frames, use templates and save time. In this section you see the list of templates (the **"Name"** and **"Work hours"** columns) and manage them.

To add a template click **"Add shift template"** and fill in the fields:

1. Choose the **position** (required).
2. Add **tags** if they are to be attached to the shift.
3. Set the **working time** — **"Start"** and **"End"**, and the length of the **"Work Break"** in minutes.
4. Expand **"Break details"** to configure the breaks for the template.
5. Click **"Save"**.

You change an existing template with the **edit** icon, and delete one you no longer need (with confirmation) in the list row.

# Crew groups

Crew groups let you gather employees into one team and plan shared shifts for them in the schedule. Each group has its own colour, so you can see at a glance in the schedule who belongs to which crew. If there are no groups yet, you will see the empty state with the title **"No groups"** and the hint **"Create a group to plan crew shifts"**.

## Adding a group

1. Click **"Add group"**.
2. In the window enter a **Name** (up to 100 characters).
3. Choose a **Colour** from the palette next to the name field. The colour is purely a visual marker for the group and its shifts in the schedule — it does not affect the planning rules.
4. Click **"Add"**.

## The Members column

The **"Members"** column shows the number of employees assigned to the group. It is read-only — you do not add or remove people from here.

|| Remember: You assign employees to a group in the **employee editor**, not on this tab. Here you only see the current number of members.

## Editing a group

1. On the chosen group click the **pencil** icon ("Edit group").
2. Change the **Name** or the **Colour**.
3. Click **"Save"**.

## Deleting a group

You delete a group from the action menu in its row.

1. On the chosen group open the action menu and choose **"Delete"**.
2. In the confirmation window **hold down** the button to delete the group.

||| Caution: Deleting a group detaches its members and unlinks their future group shifts. Past shifts stay untouched, and no shift is erased — it remains in the schedule as an ordinary employee shift.
