# Part-day (hourly) leave

Sometimes an employee needs time off for only part of a day — a doctor's appointment, an office visit, picking up a child. In Proplanum you then submit an **hourly request**: instead of a whole day you point to specific hours, and only that time is deducted from the limit. Below we show how to do it.

# How to submit an hourly request

1. Click **"Add request"** and choose the employee.
2. In the calendar mark **one day** (an hourly request concerns a single day).
3. In the **Settings** section turn off the **"All day"** switch — the hour selection fields will appear.

4. Give the **from–to hours** and finish the request as usual — see [Submitting a leave request](https://help.proplanum.com/en/article/submitting-a-leave-request-r7rhzv/).

| Important: You submit an hourly request for **one day** only. For a range of several days the "All day" switch stays on.

# How many hours it uses from the limit

How much the request deducts from the limit depends on the location setting **"Deduct the limit in hours according to the schedule"**:

* **on** — the system adds up the lengths of the shifts in the schedule on the chosen days and deducts that many hours (and when there is no shift planned on a given day, it deducts 8 h × the full-time equivalent by default),
* **off** — it deducts the default value of a working day.

|| Remember: This setting is changed by an administrator under **Locations → edit location → "General" → the "Requests" section**.
